Inter boosted by Ronaldo training game

First Published: Apr 26, 2002

Internazionale are ready to declare Brazilian striker Ronaldo fit to face Piacenza on Sunday as their title challenge nears conclusion.

Ronaldo was suffering a thigh strain earlier in the week but played in Thursday's 11-a-side practice match at the club's training ground.

He was used for one half only but should be fit to play at least some part against Piacenza.

Inter lead the title race by one point from Juventus with AS Roma a further two points back.

Italian international striker Christian Vieri is also suffering with a thigh problem and did not train yesterday. Inter coach Hector Cuper has Uruguayan Alvaro Recoba and Nicola Ventola to use as his strikers if Ronaldo is restricted to a substitute appearance.
