France see Karembeu doubtful for World Cup

French midfield Christian Karembeu may be ruled out of World Cup contention with a groin injury.

The 32 year old former Madrid star was injured in a 2-1 Greek Cup final defeat for Olympiakos against AEK Athens.

France coach Roger Lemerre has used Karembeu three times this season in squads and the long-term injury to Arsenal star Robert Pires meant the veteran was a contender for the France squad although he is likely to be injured for the next four weeks.
