Spanish international and Brescia midfielder Josep Guardiola has started his last attempt to overturn two dope test failures.
The former FC Barcelona captain tested positive for the banned anabolic substance nandrolone twice in October and November after league matches.
The player has a one year contract with Serie A side Brescia and has now applied to civil court in Italy to overturn the dope test results.
Italy's Olympic Committee has already supported a four month ban on the player imposed by the Italian league and later ratified by world governing body FIFA.
His ban ends on Saturday March 2nd and no decision is expected in the civil court application until next month.
Guardiola is set to move to England in the summer with Tottenham and Newcastle both keen to sign the play maker.
