Deisler plays down World Cup recovery
First Published: Feb 26, 2002Germany star Sebastian Deisler says he may not be fit for the World Cup finals.
Deisler underwent knee surgery last October but has agreed to join Bayern Munich next season provided he is fit.
The Hertha Berlin midfielder said yesterday;
"I don't know whether I will travel to Japan and South Korea. I'm keen to go there but not at any price. I don't want to risk my health even for the World Cup."
The wide player would be a certain starter for coach Rudi Voller if fit to be named in May's squad to play at the finals.
