Blackburn Rovers have signed Galatasary defender and Turkey international Hakan Unsal.

The centre back confirmed on his personal website that he has signed for the Premiership strugglers and worked for a year with their coach Graeme Souness at the Istanbul club five years ago.

Hakan has a three and a half year contract with Blackburn who paid £2 million to sign defender who refused a new contract to stay at Gala and was frozen out of first team action from late last year.

The Turkish club's coach Mircea Lucescu is also stalling on a new contract and may move to be the club's technical director next season with former Romanian great Gheorghe Hagi promoted to take charge of the first team he retired from last year.
