Mendieta gets FC Barcelona offer

'El Mundo Deportivo' today reports on a move by the struggling Catalan club to land Mendieta for £19 million allowing Lazio to recoup some of the sach they laid out for the player
Athletic Bilbao showed an interest in Mendieta earlier this week but that deal is now dead.
The Roma club spent £24 million to sign the Valencia midfielder in July.
Mendieta is no longer a first team regular under new Lazio coach Alberto Zaccheroni and has only recently found a house in Italy amid constant speculation that he was heading back to Spain at the first opportunity.
The player wanted to join Madrid last summer but Valencia refused to do business with their Liga rivals selling the star to Lazio instead.
