Lemerre may lead French to Euro 2004

France may ask coach Roger Lemerre to stay in charge until the next European championships.

Lemerre won the Euro 2000 title and French federation president Claude Simonet says he is "very happy" with the coach and wants to extend his contract by two years to carry the France team through to a European title defence in Portugal in 2004.
