Collina to referee World Cup final

Italian referee Pierluigi Collina is to be in charge of the World Cup final.

The appointment of the highly-rated Colllina will be confirmed today for the Yokohama final between Brazil and Germany on Sunday.

English line official Philip Sharp and Swede Leif Lindberg will his assistants and Scottish referee Hugh Dallas will be the fourth official.

Collina is regarded as the best referee in Europe after years of Serie A, Champions League and three World Cup finals appearances.
