World Cup winning coach Luiz Felipe Scolari says his team stuck together to win the title.
The World Cup’s top scorer Ronaldo hit two goals in the second half to win Brazil their fifth world title and add Scolari to their pantheon of great coaches.
"The secret was the unity of the players," he said. "They all concentrated on the main objective. Our mentality is to be first and it's marvellous that we have achieved that.
"I feel joy at knowing we did our job well but it needed a lot of hard work.
"Brazil are back as world champions and that is not something we can forget."
Scolari had to endure abuse from fans and media over his refusal to take veteran striker Romario to the finals but was vindicated when he pointed out that the team game was the most important factor in Brazil’s success this month.
The coach has offers to move to European clubs for next season but may now be offered a new contract to stay in charge of the Selecao by the CBF.
