Michel quits Tunisia job

First Published: Mar 25, 2002

Tunisia coach Henri Michel has quit.

Tunisian federation president Aboulhassen Fekih has called a press conference for tomorrow to explain Michel's decision to resign just eight weeks ahead of the World Cup finals with deputy coaches Ammar Souayah and Kemaies Labidi taking charge for the friendly against Norway on Wednesday night.

Both Tunisian coahces were appointed by the federation last week as Fekih sacked Frenchman Albert Rust.

Rust's departure made Michel feel his situation with the African team was untenable.

Fekih has been linked with several Italian coaches to replace Henri fr the World Cup finals and may look again at this option.
