Germany coach Rudi Voller says injury problems will not damage his plans for the World Cup and pointed to the return to fitness of Hertha Berlin midfielder Sebastian Deisler as a cause for optimism.
Germany host the US tonight in a friendly which has seen 11 layers withdraw or be missing from Voller's squad with Bayern Munich striker Alexander Zickler ruled out of the World Cup finals needing surgery.
Deisler is playing again after a five month break following a knee operation.
"Sebastian needs playing practice to get ready for the World Cup," said Voller.
"I think he is too good to waste his time on the bench," but the player's move to Bayern Munich in June has seen him booed by Hertha fans and he managed only 22 minutes of action at the weekend.
