The Faroe Islands scored two late goals as Slovenia threw away their lead in Toftir.
Two goals in the last three minutes overcame the early advantage established by Slovenia.
Substitute Milan Osterc had seemed to ensure the three points for the visitors when he ran through the centre of the home defence to slot the ball in at the 85th minute mark.
Two minutes later substitute Faroes striker Johannes Joensen hit a powerful drive from a corner which was deflected by midfielder Uni Arge into the net and the home team were encouraged to pour forward.
Ossur Hansen levelled the game at 2-2 with a free kick shot from the edge of the penalty area.
Saso Udovic opened the scoring for Slovenia in the 25th minute with a shot from close range on the rebound after a header from a corner hit the bar and Faroe goalkeeper Jakup Mikkelsen.
