2002 World Cup - Holland 2 Republic of Ireland 2

The start of Group B saw the Dutch side struggling to get a home draw in Amsterdam.

First it was young star Robbie Keane who got a neat pass from Jason McAteer and beat Van der Saar in the 21st minute. McAteer got the second with an impressive shot from the edge of the penalty box, after a one-two with Niall Quinn, in the 65th minute.

Jeffrey Talan scored for the hosts thanks to a header in the 71st minute, but still the best was to arrive. When the match was almost finished Giovanni Van Bronckhorst hit an incredible shot that levelled the score and saved new Dutch coach Louis Van Gaal a miserable start to his new job.
