Australia have won their Oceania World Cup qualifying group with a 2-0 victory over Fiji in Coffs Harbour.
The Australians still have to play their final game on Monday against Samoa but they cannot now be caught at the top of group one.
They face the winners of group two featuring New Zealand which starts next month in a June play-off before the winner takes on the fifth place team from the South American section.
Steve Corica scored with a low drive in the 23rd minute but Australia - who hit 31 goals and 22 goals in their previous two matches to set new world records - did not hit the target again until the 81st minute when Hayden Foxe struck home from close range.
American Samoa conceded a world record 31 goals on Wednesday but kept the score down against Tonga.
Australia smashed 22 goals past Tonga but the team recovered to beat American Samoa 5-0 earlier today with Lokoua Taufahema hitting a hat-trick set up by a second minute goal.
