Eight minutes after the break the home team equalised when Bury's Bhaichung Bhutia headed in a driven cross and India went on to do well in the second half with two shots that hit the frame of the goal.
Both teams have four points from two games with Yemen, after beating Brunei Darussalam 5-0 in their opening game, top of group eight with a better goal difference. United Arab Emirates, who beat Brunei 12-0 on Saturday, are third with three points from two games.
