Hungary's centenary celebrations in Budapest provoked visitors Germany to crash five goals past the home team.
Germany also conceded twice in an entertaining game but their superior strike power gave them a win in the celebration match for 100 years of the Hungarian federation - a repeat of the 1954 World Cup final.
A penalty from Schalke 04 striker Jurgen Bohme gave Germany the lead and Sebastian Kuhl hit the second in the 41st minute with a right foot volley.
Carsten Jancker, Frank Baumann and Oliver Bierhoff all reached cross to score from close range for Germany with Attila Tokoli hitting a low drive in response before putting Ferenc Horvath clear for a neat finish.
