First Published: Feb 09, 2001

Kuwait easily beat Kyrgyzstan in Group Four of Asia's 2002 World Cup qualifying tournament but needed two goals in the last five minutes to make the scoreline convincing.

The Kuwaitis now top the section with seven points from three undefeated games.

Khalaf Al Mutairi scored the final goal with a low drive in the 93rd minute of the match but Jassem Al Houwaid's shot on the turn killed off Kyrgyzstan's resistance.

Al Houwaid hit the first goal of the game in the 62nd minute from close range to set up a good win.
