2002 World Cup - Singapore 1 Bahrain 2

First Published: Feb 09, 2001

A fight that saw three players red carded marred a 2-1 win for Bahrain over hosts Singapore in Group Four of the Asia zone of 2002 World Cup qualification.

Singapore had just scored their goal when Noh Alam Sha and Dalis Supait and Bahrain's Abdullah Marzooki clashed and threw punches resulting in red cards from Japanese referee Kazuhiko Matsumura.

The nine Singapore players then found it difficult to get back on level terms and were left with only one point from the opening round of matches.

Two goals from Yusuf A'Amer won the game for Bahrain and he hit his first on target in the 15th minute with a shot from the edge of the area and struck again in the 25th minute. He is the group's top scorer at the moment with games resuming on February 21st.

Noh Alam Shah scored from close range after confusion in the Bahrain defence before he was sent off for fighting just a minute later.
