Greece scored a last second penalty kick to draw 3-3 in Heraklion with Russia in an exciting friendly.

Greece threw away a two goal lead after they had opened the game by scoring in only the second minute.

Debut striker Angelos Haristeas of Aris Salonika sprung the offside trap to run in on goal for a low finish.

Haristeas hit a second goal in the 32nd minute with a long range drive beyond the reach of goalkeeper Ruslan Nigmatullin but this was as good as it got for the home team until the dying seconds.

Russia made a distinct improvement in their passing and pulled a goal back in the 34th minute when Maxim Buznikin scored from close range.

The second half belonged to Russia and in the 52nd minute Dmitry Kokhov was put clear by Rolan Gusev to drive in an equaliser.

Buznikin was on the end of a graceful passing movement in the 70th minute to get in front with a low finish on the run but Greece were not finished.

Nikos Froussos was upended three minutes into injury time and Angelos Basinas
