Qatar narrowly beat Palestine 2-1 in Hong Kong to take control of group three in the Asian qualifying zone for the 2002 World Cup finals.
Qatar hammered Malaysia 5-1 at the start of the group last weekend and they are already well laced to qualify as one of ten group winners for the play-offs in the summer.
Dahi Saad Al Naemi gave Qatar a 33rd minute lead with a low drive but Emad Ayoub El Kair scored an equaliser from close range in the 54th minute.
Mubarak Mustafa scored the winning goal in the 65th minute when he turned on a loose ball into the penalty area and hit the target.
Akmal Rizal Rakhli scored twice as Malaysia beat Hong Kong earlier in the day in a 2-0 win.
They play Palestine on Sunday with Qatar meeting Hong Kong.
