Two second half goals from Dorinel Munteanu and Cosmin Contra helped Romania to recover from their mauling on Saturday by Italy.

The 2-0 win over Georgia takes them to second place in group eight behind the Italians.

Adrian Ilie suffered another injury after only 21 minutes in only his second game this year and that blow hampered Romania's attacking plans.

Munteanu was on hand to cash in on poor defending by the home team in Tbilisi in the 68th m inute when an inswinging corner caused confusion and Munteanu drove in the loose ball after a weak clearance.

Contra settled the win with a long range swerving shot from outide the penalty area in the 81st minute.
