Slovenia maintain their challenge in group four with a convincing 3-1 win over Azerbaijan in Trnava.
They scored the fastest goal of 2002 World Cup qualifying so far when Szilard Nemeth scored after he was put clear by a short pass from Lubomir Meszaros.
But in the third minute the Azeri side scored their first goal in qualifying so far when Vadim Vasilyev scored a penalty after a foul by Slovenian defender Robert Tomaschek in the area.
Nemeth scored his second in the 10th minute with a low drive and Meszaros sealed the win for the third goal from close range in the 57th minute.
The win left Slovenia top of their group with 11 points, three more than both Turkey and Sweden, who are playing later tonight against Macedonia and Moldova respectively.
