Bosnia beat Liechtenstein 3-0 in Varduz to score their first win in 2002 World Cup qualifying matches.

Substitute Almedin Hota shot through the goalkeeper's legs in the 89th minute to win the game only eight minutes after he come on as a substitute for Elvir Baljic. Hamburg SV's Sergej Barbarez, the top scorer in the Bundesliga this season and Arsenal transfer target, scored Bosnia's first two goals after 10 and 72 minutes with shots on the run but he missed out on more when 19 year old Liechtenstein goalkeeper Peter Jehle saved his 80th minute penalty after striker Marko Topic was fouled.
