2002 World Cup - Armenia 1 Norway 4

First Published: Oct 06, 2001

Norway had nothing to play for but hit four goals past Armenia.

Second half substitute defender Bård Borgersen on his debut and Valencia star John Carew gave Norway a 4-1 win over Armenia in a meaningless qualifier.

Borgersen headed in a rebound after Carew had climbed well to hit the bar in the 49th minute. Carew made no mistake when Roar Strand gave him a sight of goal on the edge of the penalty area to score with a low drive but Armenia scored their goal in reply when Sarkis Hovsepyan slipped into the Norwegian defence to finish a cross from the left wing.

Borgersen headed in a far post corner from John Arne Riise in the 80th minute and Carew scored Norway's final 2002 World Cup campaign goal when he ended a powerful run to chip over Armenian goalkeeper Roman Berezovski.
