2002 World Cup - Yugoslavia 1 Slovenia 1

First Published: Sep 05, 2001

Slovenia claimed a draw in Belgrade to stay well in contention for at least a play-off place.

Slovenia stay second in group one, three points behind Russia and one point ahead of Yugoslavia, with their final match at home to the Faroe Islands on October 6th.

They took the lead in the 10th minute when Zeljko Milinovic headed in a corner from Zlatko Zahovic that arrowed into the near post.

Yugoslavia dominated the second half and Predrag Djordjevic beat two players to equalise after a mazy run and low shot in the 51st minute but progress for them now looks unlikely.
