Saudi Arabia are leading Asian Group A from Iran after their 4-0 win over Bahrain in Manama last night.
Bahrain hit the crossbar in the 10th minute with a snap shot from Rashed Doussari but after that near miss the Saudis took control of the game.
Oubeid Doussari opened the scoring with a placed header from an Ibrahim Matar driven cross in the 26th minute and Abdallah Chihane followed up with a low drive two minutes later to all but end the game as a contest.
Abdallah Al-Waked made it 3-0 in the 41st minute with a swerving drive from long range and Sami Jaber scored from close range in the 89th minute after Bahrain had been reduced to ten men earlier in the half when goalkeeper Hamad al-Rouai had fouled Doussari on the edge of the penalty box
Saudi Arabia have 10 points from five games in Group A but Iran have a game in hand.
Saudi Arabia host Iran at Jeddah on September 28th in their next match.
