African Nations Cup - Mali 2 South Africa 0

First Published: Feb 04, 2002

Hosts Mali continued their African Nations Cup dream by easing past a well-beaten South Africa.

The home team took the lead in the 59th minute when Bassala Toure scored and substitute Dramane Coulibaly sealed the win in the last minute

Mali now face holders Cameroon or Egypt in the March 26th Stadium in capital city Bamako on Thursday night for a pace in the final.

Toure scored one of the best goals of the competition so far when he drifted and feinted past three defenders to accelerate and bury a low shot past goalkeeper Hans Vonk.

Coulibaly converted a low cross after the South African defence exposed their goal by pushing forwards to try and equalise leaving Vonk alone to see another shot crashed past him.
