Holders Cameroon saw striker Patrick Mboma score the only goal of the game to send them into the African nations Cup semi finals with a 1-0 win over Egypt.
African Player of the Year Mboma scored the winner in the 62nd minute when he turned a header past goalkeeper Essam Al-Hadary following a driven corner kick from Geremi Ndjitap.
Cameroon now face hosts Mali in Bamako on Thursday night.
Egypt offered little resistance against Cameroon's hard-running game and surrendered midfield to rely on counter attacks which never came.
The normally reliable Al-Hadary almost gifted a 50th minute goal to Samuel Eto'owhen he passed a kick straight to him in the penalty area. The Real Mallorca rounded the stricken goalkeeper but chose power in front of an open goal and smashed the ball high over the crossbar.
Eto'o also wasted a chance to put Cameroon into a fourth minute lead but credit should go to Al-Hadary who parried his shot.
