Tunisia were held 0-0 by a scratch Zambia team in their first African Nations Cup game.
The Zambian squad is suffering with a malaria outbreak which took hold last week but they held up to blunt several Tunisian attacks despite missing defender Hillary Makasa and midfielder Ian Bakala with illness.
Zambia offered little in attack but they did force a save from Chokri al-Ouaer when Charles Lota sent a shot on the run over the crossbar in the 86th minute.
The Tunisians were hit by injuries in the run up to the tie but came close when defender Hamdi Marzouki headed on target but the effort was cleared.
