African Nations Cup - Cameroon 1 Ivory Coast 0

A goal from Patrick Mboma carried holders Cameroon into the quarter finals of the African Nations Cup.

African Player of the Year Mboma headed in an 85th minute corner down into the net to win the game.

The Ivory Coast dominated the second half and almost scored five minutes before Mboma when Didier Zokora launched a header that needed a fine leaping save from Alioum Bakar.

Marc Vivien-Foe headed wide twice for the holders from free kicks in the first half as Cameroon threatened regularly but they were held back by the Ivorians in the second session and only a defensive lapse from them produced a flattering win for Cameroon.
