African Nations Cup - Tunisia 0 Senegal 0

First Published: Jan 31, 2002

World Cup qualifiers Tunisia became the first major casualty of the African Nations Cup when they were knocked out by a 0-0 draw with Senegal.

Tunisia needed a win to qualify from Group D but their indifferent form this month cost them dear with Seegal now playing the Democratic Republic of Congo on Monday in the quarter finals.

Slim Benachour missed a penalty in the second half to add to the pain of several missed chances leaving French coach Henri Michel - back in charge for only two months so far - to explain recent problems.

Michel slammed the attitude of his players in the build-up to this game and wrote off their World Cup chances of reaching the second stage in June but he could now be sacked.
