Goals and injuries have dominated Germany's preparations for the World Cup finals.
This latest win saw them hit their 13th goal in three games after a 7-0 hammering of Kuwait last week but midfielder Sebastian Deisler was stretchered off the pitch in the 18th minute after injuring his right knee which was operated on earlier this year.
Deisler was tackled by Austrian striker Rolf Landerl and seemed to feeel pain before falling to the ground nearly three minutes later clutching his suspect leg but the German camp played down the severity of the problem after already losing Mehmet Scholl, Jens Nowotny and Christian Worns from their World Cup plans in the last few weeks with injuries.
Bundesliga coaches have voted in a survey against the German team winning the World Cup next month but goals are not a problem at the moment for Rudi Voller's side.
Miroslav Klose hit three goals including the first with a 15th minute drive which caped a cross from Deisler with he added the second from a Dietmar Hamann cross.
Marco Bode was sent clear by a Christian Ziege ball over the top in the 36th minute but Rene Aufhauser and Roman Wallner hit close range efforts to bring Austria right back into the game.
But it did not last and Klose headed his third in the 53rd minute with Bode hitting a low drive to seal the win.
Gerald Asamoah then set up late substitute Daniel Bierofka to hit the sixth goal with a shot on the run.
