Four games and four defeats for new Scotland coach Berti Vogts but at least his side will be away from the glare of the World Cup finals unlike South African counterpart Jono Somo whose team were poor in this Hong Kong kickabout.
Scotland only conceded a 92nd minute second goal to make the score line more impressive than the performance of the African team and they only broke through in the 25th minute when Tebogo Makoena dived to claim a free kick and then went off the field for treatment after some World Cup-style 'simulation' only to score from a free kick chance offered by Benny McCarthy's set piece a minute later after coming back onto the field.
Celtic goalkeeper Rab Douglas had parried McCarthy's kick and Makoena knocked in the rebound from a tight angle.
Sunderland youth team player Kevin Kyle hit the crossbar with a shot on the run and Rangers' Maurice Ross forced a good save from a back-peddling Hans Vonk with a curling shot but George Koumantarakis sealed the win when he reached a cross in the last few seconds for his first international goal.
