Belgium followed up their win in Paris against France last week by overcoming Costa Rica 1-0 in Kumamoto.

Bart Goor scored the winner in the 23rd minute a free kick was not cleared properly and rebounded to him on the edge of the area to drive in.

Costa Rica threatened through Manchester City striker Paulo Wanchope with defender Carlos Castro forcing a good save from goalkeeper Geert De Vlieger with a long range shot as the South American team started well but then conceded in a physical game.

Ronald Gomez came close to equalising with a shot against the post and Wanchope hit a chip on the run in the 23rd minute which almost scored before he was replaced by Udinese forward Winston Parks of in the 73rd minute.

Belgium then finished the game strongly and saw Mbo Mpenza hit the post after the Costas again failed to clear properly.
