Spain reach last-16 while Ukraine and Swiss also win

Spain were pushed all the way by a surprising Tunisia outfit before sealing a place in the last-16 on Monday with a come from behind 3-1 win in Stuttgart while there were also boosting wins for Switzerland and Ukraine.

It took a pair of Fernando Torres goals and a crucial equaliser from Raul to overturn a shock opener from Tunisia's Jawer Mnari who had threatened to turn the form book on its head.

However the talent and experience of Luis Aragones's side eventually paid off to keep the Spaniard's momentum building as they now look to the next round

Earlier, after a thrashing from Spain last week Ukraine got their campaign back on track with a resounding 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia also in Group H which means a draw against Tunisia on Friday will almost certainly send them through at their first World Cup campaign.

Also on Monday, Switzerland moved top of Group G, where last day action will decide between them France and South Korea for two places in the next round.

Ukraine, with four changes from the 4-0 mauling by Spain in their opening match, showed their attacking intent from the start and they took a 2-0 lead into half-time thanks to Andriy Rusol and Sergei Rebrov.

They were quick off the blocks in the second half too as new Chelsea signing Andriy Schevchenko headed home after 46 minutes while Maksym Kalinichenko rounded off the scores in the 84th minute.

Coach Oleg Blokhine had accused his players of not trying as Spain beat them 4-0 in their opening Group G tie but there will be no such claims Monday.

Swiss 'Tranquillo' after beating Togo

Switzerland took a giant stride toward second round qualification with a 2-0 win over Togo that puts them top of Group G on goal difference from South Korea, meaning a draw against the Asians on Friday would be enough.

Switzerland's hero of the hour was midfielder Tranquillo Barnetta who set up Alex Frei's first goal on 16 minutes and hammered home the winner with two minutes left on the clock with both teams looking weary and mistake prone.

Substitute Mauro Lustrinelli provided an inch perfect pass to set up Barnetta.

In their defence Togo can point to the fact they should have had a first half penalty after Emmanuel Adebayor was clearly kicked by Patrick Muller inside the area.
