: If you have that much experience, surely you cant give any credence to what Sports Hochi or the other mainstream tabloids say.

I never made any reference to Hochi or any other tabloid sites. I was citing the likes of Daily Yomiuri, Soccer Magazine and Soccer Digest. I think you'll agree that those are worthy publications.

We basically seem to have two distinct preferences in terms of style of soccer, and that's fine by me. I like consistency, and you demand entertaining soccer. At the very least, I take comfort in knowing that you and I agree that Shimizu was a crappy coach.

We'll see what happens with Vegalta. I wish you guys luck. I really feel it's important for you guys to be back in J1 soon, because the fans are passionate and the Tohoku region deserves a J1 representation. I'm very confident that Verdenik can guide you guys back to J1 in a year given the following conditions:

1). that the club hires a full-fledged medical staff. they don't even have a team physician at the moment. i'm sure that had something to do with the flurry of injuries this past season.
2). that the newly-hired GM Tanaka commits to being on the same page as Verdenik
3). that they retain Silvinho and Sato. Silvinho especially is indispensable to Vegalta. He's the machine that keeps them clicking.
4). that the team does not suffer significant dropoff in sponsorship. Already I'm hearing that one of their primary sponsors is contemplating pulling out, and that's not a good sign.
5). that they get rid of selfish aholes who'd been cuddled too much by Shimizu. I'm talking about Yamashita and, in particular, Iwamoto. Iwamoto is lackadaisical on defense, he's lost a step or two over the years, and he's had a history of mouthing off. Iwamoto was the primary culprit in giving up that goal in the Oita match through his unmotivated defending, and to see the guy blame everyone but himself is just unreal.
