As far as the Soccer Digest piece, I can't cite the exact date or the reporter, because I just read that in midst of freeload reading at a bookstore. The Soccer Magazine article was on the 8/19 edition and written by Ito (pg. 40-41). I know you don't regard Chunichi as a credible source. But I actually think that their coverage of Grampus is very reliable and insightful. Just in case you might be interested, I'll include a link to the article. http://chuspo.chunichi.co.jp/grampus/2003topics/gt0731-1.htm : With all due respect to Justin McCurry, who is part of another discussion group that I take part in and seems like a very nice guy, I dont view him as an "expert" on football, by any means. I thought very highly of Duncan Castles before he moved back to UK. Michael Church is highly experienced in Asian football (I could be wrong, but didn't he used to write for AFC?). I'm surprised to hear you say that about Justin McCurry, but I believe you. Jeremy Walker (who used to write for Daily Yomiuri) doesn't appear quite as resourceful and insightful as he used to be. His columns on FC Japan are sort of boring these days. : And as for the rest of the sports staff, they make Justin look like a genius. You don't like Michael Church? I think he's quite good. : Incidentally, which teams DO you support? Any early expectations for the Emperor's Cup? I'm not a fan of any team per se. I just support J League as a whole. But I guess I root for teams that I think are doing the right thing at the moment. That's why I want to see teams like FC Tokyo and JEF do well. I think that both of those teams have first-rate front offices. I say that, because they're progressive-thinking, make smart player acquisitions, take excellent care of their foreign players, and are always in synch with their coaching staffs. I also want teams that have good fan support do well. Emperor's Cup is such a crapshoot to predict, but I'll just go with FC Tokyo. Which teams do you like? Hey, where is this other forum that you mentioned? The one with Justin McCurry?
