I saw this player for Steaua Bucharest against Aston Villa in the UEFA Cup a couple of years ago. At the time he was 19 or 20, the top scorer in the Romanian league and considered one of the biggest future hopes of Romanian football. (Actually, the same can be said about Denis Serban who is also not in the squad). I don't know how well he has played in Spain but he seemed to play in many of the qualifiers so I am slightly surprised to see him excluded.
