LENS, France, Aug 20 (Reuters)(DS) - French first division leaders RC Lens may try to sign former Italy international striker Roberto Baggio. Coach Rolland Courbis is considering a move for the 33-year-old who is out of contract with Inter Milan, sources close to the club said on Sunday. No transfer fee would be involved, but Baggio's salary demands may prove to be too high for Lens even though they have money to spend after selling several players during the close-season. Courbis confirmed after Lens' 2-1 win over Toulouse on Saturday that he was looking for another attacker. But he has not confirmed reports linking him with Baggio, who is currently training on his own in Italy.
(Question: if he is training on his own, why not take a chance and try a season in France? It's not as if he needed the money, and Lens is famous for its rabid support. They'd love him there. He'd enjoy it.)
