Asian Cup 2000 - is it going to happen?

The Asian Cup 2000 competition is scheduled to start on Thursday - in Lebanon.

However, not only is Lebanon apparently getting dragged into some serious fighting with its neighbors, but it also seems that construction of the Tripoli stadium is not completed yet.

So is this thing actually going to happen?

I've been looking for official news releases or statements about this but haven't found any.

Has anyone seen any news????
