Actually, that article is dated from before the current round of fighting in the Middle East started. The reason I was concerned is that I haven't seen anything since then.

Let's hope it happens and, if it does, that it goes smoothly.

Who do you tip for this one?

Its a bit hard to read who will play who in the knock-out stages with third-placed teams floating around everywhere, but at a quick glance my guess is the semifinal lineup will be:

Iran v Japan
Saudi v Korea

Of those, Japan looks to have the toughest route to the semis: I would place them second in their group under the Saudis, in which case they come up against whoever comes second out of the group with China, Kuwait, Korea and Indonesia. I'm assuming Korea will top that group, leaving a QF between Japan and either China or Kuwait - and if it is Kuwait that could be the end for Japan. If Japan pass that test, it looks like Iran next, as Iran are likely to have a QF against a little-hoper like Uzbekistan.

On the strength of that, I would definitely predict that the winner of Korea v Saudi will win the title, with Japan or Kuwait as the losing finalist.

What do you say???
