I thought that the new Olympic stadium was beautiful, but a bit too huge for football. The cricket grounds, despite their fantastic capacity, were even worse. As far as the ability to host, any number of countries in the region could do so easily. Lebanon won the right because most people in the region want to support that country in its rebuilding process. Its a real shame that the threat of war coud undo all their hard work.

On the other hand, Ive said this before and Ill say it again, if Australia wants into Asia, they will have a very warm welcome. The Oceania group is a joke (except for the Aussies) and Id much rather play qualification matches in Sydney or Melbourne than halfway around the world in scorching hot Oman or UAE. I think most East Asian football fans would agree and at last check, the AFC were willing as well. It isnt Asian reluctance thats keeping you out, its your Oceanian neighbours who know that without Australia, Oceania will be just a footnote in football history
