don't know if this was already discussed, but I found it interesting:

Hajduk Split are hoping to ease their financial problems with donations from some of their former players.

The Croatian champions are struggling to make ends meet but they could be rescued by some of their old boys.

Press reports last week suggested that Alen Boksic, Aljosa Asanovic, Slaven Bilic and Igor Stimac are ready to give the club in the region of £1million.

A club spokesman confirmed that there was some truth in the reports - although no money had changed hands yet.

He told Ananova.com: "The club are still in negotiations with the players and that's as far as things have gone.

"These players are capable of helping their club but whether they do so or not, we will have to wait and see.

"We cannot say too much yet but we will know the situation within the next 10 days."

Middlesbrough forward Boksic started his career with Hajduk - his hometown club - before making a lucrative move to Cannes before helping Marseille to win the European Cup in 1993.

Former Derby midfielder Asanovic, current West Ham defender Stimac and ex-Everton ace Bilic also started their careers in Split.

They helped the Croatian national side to the semi-finals of the 1998 World Cup.
